As we emerge from a global pandemic, the economy is behaving in historic and bewildering ways: Millions of workers are reevaluating their priorities. Companies are struggling to adapt to seismic shifts in consumer behavior. And inflation poses huge new challenges. What happens next has enormous implications for the future of work, commerce, technology, homeownership and America’s standing in the world.
The ideal candidate is an inquisitive thinker, a voracious consumer of data and a collaborative self-starter, able to work with colleagues across the newsroom to tell insightful stories about the behavior of economic players and the consequences of their actions. The job requires a mix of talents: In addition to producing ambitious enterprise and stories off the news, this reporter should seize opportunities to explain economic trends through FAQs, data visualizations and portraits of people caught in the riptides.
This position is based in our Washington newsroom. Once we resume normal operations, this position will not be eligible for remote work.
The Post strives to provide its readers with high-quality, trustworthy news and information while constantly innovating. That mission is best served by a diverse, multi-generational workforce with varied life experiences and perspectives. All cultures and backgrounds are welcomed.
Candidates should upload a resume, cover letter and three clips to our jobs portal by Nov. 22. All application materials can be uploaded to the same field. Your cover letter should be addressed to Business Editor Lori Montgomery, Deputy Business Editor Zachary Goldfarb, Economics Editor Damian Paletta and Deputy Economics Editor Jennifer Liberto, as well as Managing Editors Tracy Grant and Krissah Thompson.
