The ideal candidate will be hungry to break news and explore the broad cultural shifts arising from the difficult decisions and opportunities consuming many Americans. These include questions about the balance between life and work, tensions between wages and benefits, the evolving office space, causes of worker shortages, tensions in the labor movement and how government policy affects what we do for a living.
In addition, the job will require covering government labor policy, the Department of Labor and the monthly release of labor-related data, presenting it to readers in new and fresh ways. We want to distinguish The Post’s coverage through bright examples and context as our subscribers try to make sense of what is happening both around them and to them.
The successful candidate will have a boundless curiosity about the shifting landscape for workers, diving into trends large and small. This person will work to bring these stories to life through vivid and visual storytelling.
This position is based in our Washington newsroom and is not eligible for remote work.
The Post strives to provide its readers with high-quality, trustworthy news and information while constantly innovating. That mission is best served by a diverse, multi-generational workforce with varied life experiences and perspectives. All cultures and backgrounds are welcomed.
Candidates should upload a résumé, cover letter and three clips to our Jobs Portal by March 15. Your cover letter should be addressed to Business Editor Lori Montgomery, Deputy Business Editor Zachary Goldfarb, Economics Editor Damian Paletta and Deputy Economics Editor Jennifer Liberto, as well as Managing Editors Tracy Grant and Krissah Thompson. All application materials can be uploaded to the same field.
