Wall Street Journal seeks night digital news editor

New WSJ websiteThe Wall Street Journal seeks a digitally savvy news editor to help run our digital news at night. The editor in this position, based in the heart of the New York newsroom, will be at the center of the action on big breaking news and major digital enterprise.

Specific duties include helping to manage WSJ.com, sending breaking news alerts, editing and publishing news stories, optimizing articles to maximize digital impact and reach, and handling our social media accounts. The job requires close coordination with editors and bureau chiefs around the world, as well as with colleagues on visuals, video and audience teams.

The editor will work a Tuesday-Saturday schedule, and must be comfortable making news decisions with little hand-holding, particularly on Saturdays.

The editor in this position must have strong news judgment, excellent communication skills and be well-versed in digital best practices. The ideal candidate will thrive in a high-pressure, breaking-news environment in which the ability to make smart, rapid decisions and quickly deliver news across our digital platforms is essential.
