Variety seeks a reporter to cover the television business

Variety is looking for a reporter to cover the television business. We’re seeking a strong writer with knowledge of the entertainment business who is willing to work hard to develop good sources within the industry, from executives to agents to producers. The ideal candidate will be passionate about breaking news and able to write clean copy quickly. This role will be based in Los Angeles.
Responsibilities:
  • Writing multiple breaking-news stories ever day under intense deadline pressure
  • Reporting enterprise stories
  • Writing industry- and consumer-facing features
Requirements:
  • At least 2+ years of professional editorial experience in a digital newsroom
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and break hard-news
  • Build pipeline to report exclusives
  • Self-starter
