ThinkAdvisor seeks a freelance copy editor

At ALM, we’re reinventing the way professionals use information, news, data, marketing solutions and events to manage the business of business. Headquartered in New York City and with offices worldwide, ALM brands have been serving their markets since 1843.

About the role: Aside from editing articles for grammar, clarity and style, you will play a crucial role in substantive editing and fact checking as well as writing headlines and other display copy. A knack for writing catchy, compelling, accurate headlines is an absolute must.

The hours for this position are 1 to 5 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications:

  • Significant editing experience at a website, newspaper or magazine
  • Excellent line- and content-editing skills
  • A master of headlines, with the ability to find the hook that will draw readers from across referral sources
  • Understanding of the financial services and wealth management industry
  • Deadline-obsessed, with the ability to edit quickly as stories come in
  • Fluency in AP Style
  • Ability to work in WordPress
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and basic HTML
