TheStreet is seeking an experienced Managing Editor in our New York bureau to oversee TheStreet.com newsroom staff and freelancers in the production of clear, engaging columns and news stories on actionable investing, finance and business related content.
Reporting to the editor in chief, the managing editor will be responsible for the development of quality content that will drive traffic, increase page views, improve engagement and create a loyal audience in the financial news digital space. The right candidate will be able to edit stories, write strong headlines, fact-check and assign stories on a wide variety of business and market news. In addition, they will have a strong understanding of link building and SEO and have a strong understanding of what makes content sticky.
This editor will manage the calendar of content for the site. In addition, the editor will be responsible for forming strong relationships with our subscription and institutional newsrooms, looking for ways to collaborate to create comprehensive coverage on topics for people that are serious about their money. The editor will also be responsible for working with our Technology department to collaborate on the development of new editorial products and tools.
The editor must have solid news judgment and be skilled at writing sharp, intelligent prose for a wide audience. The editor must be experienced in markets with an understanding of stock valuation and investment practices. Time spent in the trenches of business reporting/editing is essential, and a desire to write and report stories and columns is also a plus.
