Join a team that is reshaping the narrative of Black Chicago through journalism, creative storytelling, events and outreach that elevates the voices and perspectives of the community.

As we continue to grow our editorial team at The TRiiBE, we’re in search of a Digital News Editor to help us reimagine the way we tell important news stories to our Black Chicago audience. The Digital News Editor will be responsible for managing the day-to-day news section of The TRiiBE: publishing multiple timely news stories each week, editing staff and freelance news reporters, filing FOIA requests, digging through official documents and data, assigning stories to staff and freelance reporters, and guiding staff and freelance reporters through longform features and investigations.

Additionally, the Digital News Editor will work with our Social Media team to write breaking-news copy to post on our social channels (InstagramTwitterFacebook, etc) in a timely manner; and work with our Editor-in-Chief to send out a daily News newsletter to our readers.

The ideal candidate will have experience in breaking news, managing/mentoring reporters and an established knowledge of Black Chicago and the decades of systemic failures that continue to plague the community.

This position is based in Chicago and employs a hybrid work model: the team works in office on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and remotely on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is a position under the supervision of the Editor-in-Chief.
