The Shreveport-Bossier Advocate seeks a features editor

The Shreveport-Bossier Advocate is seeking an experienced journalist to lead our cultural coverage for the largest news organization in Louisiana. Food, fashion, dining, music, or just what’s trending – we’re interested in it all. We’re searching for someone who can write punchy posts and stories, and also manage some freelancers, to capture the color and concerns of the Shreveport-Bossier City community.

  • Write and edit feature stories, with a particular focus on food, local culture and events
  • Identify topic areas of reader interest, drawing from community feedback and reader metrics
  • Assign stories to freelancers
  • Analyze digital metrics and help the company meet its digital goals
  • Contribute stories and other writing to a 7-day-a-week email newsletter, and launch an additional features-focused newsletter to serve readers

Job Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to work some nights and holidays
  • A focus on producing accurate and factual stories
  • Experience as an editor or reporter
  • Proficiency with digital publishing tools, including a web CMS and email newsletter publishing
