We are seeking a talented and passionate General Assignment Reporter / Content Curator to join our news organization in the Audience Development Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for researching, writing, and producing high-quality news stories and content, as well as curating and posting on social media platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Write news stories and content that are engaging, accurate, informative, and rapid.
- Publish and promote content on social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Monitor news wires, social media, and other sources to identify high-impact stories and trends that are relevant to our audience.
- Pitch story ideas and work with editors and other members of the editorial team to develop new angles and angles to existing stories.
- Ensure that all content is optimized for SEO and social media.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as design and development, to ensure that all content is visually appealing, user-friendly, and optimized for different platforms.
- Stay up to date on industry trends, developments, and emerging technologies related to news and social media.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a reporter, content curator, or a related role within a news organization.
- Strong writing skills and the ability to produce accurate, engaging, and informative news stories.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices for content promotion.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong news judgment and the ability to identify stories and trends that are relevant to our audience.
- Knowledge of AP style and other editorial guidelines.
- Familiarity with different CMS and editorial tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Salary: $70,000 – $100,000
