The Advocate, a locally owned, Pulitzer Prize-winning news organization that serves the greater Baton Rouge area and beyond, is seeking an enterprising statehouse reporter to round out its Capitol News Bureau team.
We’re looking for someone who can cover the halls of power in Baton Rouge, a city whose politics are as delicious as its Cajun and Creole cuisine.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
- You’d cover the governor and the legislature from our offices within the state Capitol.
- You’d write about new laws, the state’s budget and factions warring for influence over policy changes that affect millions around Louisiana.
- You’d also cover the ins and outs of state elections, including this year’s governor’s race, the biggest competition on the ballot.
- You should be a team player and have a history of breaking news and developing complex enterprise.
- You should also be comfortable with alternate forms of storytelling that engage readers, such as digital-only content.
