STAT seeks hospitals beat reporter

STAT, a national publication covering health and medicine, is looking for an aggressive and proven hospitals beat reporter.

This beat will focus on the experiences of doctors, nurses and other practitioners as they confront titanic shifts in the health care system; the changes roiling medical education; the drive to improve patient safety; and the culture of hospitals, including rivalries and power struggles.

The reporter will be expected to produce a steady mix of breaking news, profiles, and enterprise. He or she will also contribute brief items regularly to a daily hospitals newsletter.

STAT is based in Boston and we expect this reporter to cover the Boston hospital scene, but this is truly a national beat and we’re open to having the journalist located anywhere in the country.

Please send a cover letter, resume, and up to eight clips to managing editor Stephanie Simon at stephanie.simon@statnews.com.
