Jeff Plungis has resigned from Bloomberg News to become a senior automotive reporter at Consumer Reports.
He will be based in Washington, working on stories about auto safety, the environment, new technology and corporate accountability.
Plungis has been with Bloomberg since February 2006, working in Washington, covering the auto industry. he also wrote about trucking, the bus industry, highways and aviation security.
He also covered railroads, energy, personal finance and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and worked two years as editor on the finance desk, concentrating on the SEC and banking regulation.
Plungis was previously the Washington correspondent for The Detroit News and worked as a reporter and editor for Congressional Quarterly. He won a Loeb Award in 2005 and was a finalist in 2015.
