The Juneau Empire, Alaska’s award-winning capital daily, is looking for an experienced, hard-hitting journalist to report on general and state news from the Alaska State Capitol in downtown Juneau. We want someone who can be the first to break news online, develop a day two story for print, but won’t drop the ball on investigative and enterprising projects along the way.

This Position Requires:

SKILLS:

  • Experience using social media to report the news and promote your work is a must
  • Photography/videography skills are a desirable bonus.
  • Working comfortably and independently in team settings
  • Strong proficiency in AP style
  • The ability to consistently meet the deadline are requirements for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least two years’ experience at a daily newspaper
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, a related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Preference will be given to qualified candidates in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.

Starting wage of $20 per hour and a $1,000 signing bonus!
