Seattle Times seeks “Project Homeless” editor

The Seattle Times is looking for an editor to lead Project Homeless, that covers homelessness in the Seattle area.

As an editor, you must have strong story editing, digital and social media skills, as well as a basic understanding of the diffuse and nuanced causes of homelessness.

DUTIES:

  • Lead a community-funded team with strong story editing, digital and social media skills
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding and background in community engagement
  • Adapt and embrace newsroom publishing standards
  • Keep well informed about news in general and assigned specialties
  • Produce and present periodic reports

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Minimum five years’ experience at a metropolitan daily news organization
  • Experience with the subject matter preferred
  • Four-year college degree
  • Able to demonstrate strong budget-management skills
