Twin Cities weekly papers to shut amid pandemic crisis

A weekly newspaper covering Woodbury, Cottage Grove and the county’s southern communities, the Bulletin will be ceasing operations as advertising revenues plummet due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s very sad,” said Woodbury Mayor Anne Burt. “I’ve been a fan of local news my whole life.”

The last issue of the Bulletin came out May 6, followed a day later by the last issue of the Hastings Star Gazette.

Other newspapers that ceased operations include:

  • Eden Prairie News
  • Lakeshore Weekly News
  • Lake County News Chronicle in Two Harbors
  • Jasper Journal in southwestern Minnesota
  • Osakis Review in central Minnesota

Several other papers have also folded or slashed the number of days published.
