The successful applicant will have a minimum of ten years’ experience as a journalist, with at least three of those years in a copy-editing role. As Assistant Business Editor you will support the Business Editor to administer, plan and produce various publications, as well as supervise staff.
The successful person will possess the ability to:
Shift gears seamlessly between breaking news and the news diary
Create and co-ordinate content for all media channels, including but not limited to print, web, the tablet and social media
Edit copy and lay out pages
Exercise good judgment over the use and relevance of overseas news
Produce the stocks page in conjunction with and in the absence of the Business Editor
Work unsocial hours, including weekends and public holidays
Show proficiency in an array of publishing tools, significantly InDesign
