Reuters seeks an investigative biz reporter

August 12, 2024

Posted by Chris Roush

Reuters is looking for an intrepid, tenacious and accomplished reporter for its new Business Investigations unit. The team, part of the Reuters Global Enterprise team, will produce a mixture of quick-turnaround exclusives, rolling investigations that unfold over weeks and months, and deep-dive projects that inform and serve our investors, customers, readers and the public interest.

The successful candidate will have a proven record of both breaking news and pursuing and delivering ambitious investigative journalism. The reporter should be creative and collaborative – capable of generating ambitious story ideas and project proposals on their own, and also able to work closely with other reporters on our team and other teams to produce investigative and explanatory journalism at the highest level. A successful candidate will be adept at business and financial coverage, and at divining and explaining the broader social, economic and political context in which companies of all types and sizes operate.

Reuters clients rely on us to be the leading source of business news, and we view this position as a force multiplier for the indispensable work our beat journalists already provide. As such, the reporter must be able to collaborate with Reuters colleagues around the world to leverage our vast knowledge on subjects ranging from finance, markets, commodities, macro and technology to politics and social issues. The candidate must also collaborate with photographers, videographers, graphics journalists, audio journalists and story designers as partners in the conceptualization, reporting and presentation of our work.

The position reports to Business Investigations Editor Paulo Prada.

The role will be based in Washington or New York; other U.S. locations could be considered for the right candidate.
