Reuters is seeking an enterprising, driven journalist to join the Reuters New York commodities team to cover sugar, coffee and cocoa physical and futures markets.
We are looking for a reporter who is as comfortable digging for stories on changes in international trade flows and price moves in opaque markets as they are writing big-picture stories about changes in consumer preferences and diet. This is an exciting time to join Reuters’ commodities team in New York as markets deal with the impact of increasing consumer awareness of the impact of sugar on health and as coffee and cocoa producers struggle with a global supply glut.
The ideal candidate would have a passion for both commodity and business coverage. She or he should be able to cultivate contacts in trading communities, government agencies and at the companies that produce, process and sell the commodities we cover.
We are seeking a reporter with strong writing skills who can both break news and execute stories on trading and corporate strategies, supply chain issues, industry trends and market movements. We need somebody with strong team skills who can work with a virtual team covering soft commodities worldwide and who has the flexibility to contribute to coverage of other markets and sectors when needed.
