Quartz seeks a reporter to cover a key force shaping the global economy: its great cities. You would be part of the growing Quartz team, and help shape our efforts to take bracingly creative approaches to covering business news.
You will view the world’s cities as unique laboratories, and the flow of people, capital and innovation that are drawn to them as an endless source of story ideas. You will bring a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of things, and for the transformative capacity of technology, data and science.
Understanding how people interact with their built environments and the corresponding opportunities and challenges that creates for work, transportation, the environment and energy, housing, and design, is a key challenge of this job.
We are looking for journalists with professional reporting experience, facility with data, an entrepreneurial approach to their work, and the ability to convey curiosity and humor in their writing. You will relish developing fresh ways to dig up news and data and quickly translating them into provocative articles that deliver real insights to our readers.
The ideal candidate is energized at the prospect of obsessively covering cities on a daily basis in a conversational, approachable way.
International experience and languages are a plus.
