Protocol seeks a payments reporter

July 8, 2021

Posted by Chris Roush

Protocol is seeking a reporter who can break news and tell original, inside stories about the world of payments.

What You’ll Need:

We’re not looking for reporters to summarize what others have already reported; we’re looking for reporters who can consistently break news that other reporters have to follow. Our ideal candidates are smart, well-sourced and have a knack for finding out what’s happening and explaining what it means and why it matters to a savvy and knowledgeable audience.

The world of payments is going through some of the biggest changes in decades. Visa and PayPal are worth hundreds of billions of dollars, and payments startups are becoming decacorns seemingly overnight. The strongest candidates can get into the weeds, explaining the difference between Interchange++ and blended pricing and identifying the barriers to implementing real-time payments, while also giving readers the big picture of why payments has become such a valuable and competitive industry.

Location: We prefer candidates in the San Francisco, New York and Washington, D.C. areas but are open to other locations as well.

Apply: To apply, send a cover letter and resume, with Payments Reporter in the subject line, to jobs@protocol.com
