Politico seeks reporter to write Morning Energy newsletter

August 11, 2022

Posted by Chris Roush

Politico is seeking a sharp writer and reporter to helm our Morning Energy newsletter, the definitive guide to the biggest policy and political issues facing Washington, including climate change and the transition to a clean energy economy. We dig deep into White House policy makers, legislative fights in Congress and the critical regulations from the executive branch, as well as the courtroom conflicts they spark.

The high-profile beat also includes coverage of electric vehicles and the programs and policies under development to speed the shift away from conventional cars and trucks. And you’ll coordinate closely with energy team members to cover Congress to document the strategies of both political parties as they push their policy priorities.

Your work will reach an influential audience of decision makers, including top officials in the White House, leading legislators and Cabinet members – all of whom depend on our insightful coverage to help them navigate some of the most contentious issues facing the United States.

The ideal candidate will possess a devotion to landing scoops, a nose for finding the news buried inside of political spin and an analytical approach to connect the dots to produce unique stories.

What You’ll Need

  • A strong, demonstrated grasp of energy policy and politics
  • A clear, authoritative writing voice to ensure Morning Energy stands out in a competitive field
  • A proven ability to produce scoops and identify emerging trends
  • Desire to work in team that collaborates closely to hold those in power accountable

To apply: Submit a cover letter, resume and clips of your writing (as PDFs) via the Politico jobs portal.
