Politico is seeking an experienced, aggressive reporter to cover the policy and politics of fintech.
You’ll be responsible for chronicling one of the most important financial policy stories of our time: the rise of digital currencies, online banking and other tech developments that are transforming the world of finance.
This role will focus on how Washington will write new rules for finance to shape the booming cryptocurrency market and wide-ranging industry disruption as tech startups challenge traditional banks. You’ll be expected to produce scoops on the actions of lawmakers and regulators, including those at the relevant congressional committees and across federal agencies. You’ll also own coverage of the growing army of lobbyists trying to influence the rules on behalf of fintech ventures and the legacy banks trying to defend their turf. You’ll need to stay plugged in to industry developments that could impact the policy debate, including moves by major retailers and other corporate giants to enter financial services.
What you’ll need:
- Deep familiarity with the world of finance or financial regulation
- Track record of delivering high-impact scoops and revelatory enterprise stories that beat the competition
- History of working collaboratively and efficiently in a high-metabolism newsroom
- Ability to juggle multiple fast-moving story lines on deadline with clarity and accuracy
