Philadelphia Inquirer seeks assistant business editor

Philadelphia InquirerPhiladelphia InquirerThe Philadelphia Inquirer and Philly.com are looking for an Assistant Business Editor who can help drive our expanded business news coverage.

This person would be one of three editors covering a staff of 13 reporters whose work runs online and in print. The ideal candidate would be an excellent line editor, a good communicator, web experienced, open to new ideas and entrepreneurial.

This person would be closely involved in the business news web site, helping us to grow traffic while leading specific areas of related coverage, such as technology and startups, depending on interest and expertise.

The ideal person would help us sharpen our print product and explore new ways to cover business news and connect with readers online.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
