NY Times seeks a tech reporter

October 12, 2019

Tech has transformed the way that Americans live, and that is especially the case in New York City. It has changed the very fabric of urban life — everything from how we commute to how we make our apartments more secure to how we keep track of teenagers.

Now, Metro is looking for ambitious and innovative reporter to cover technology in New York City.

This reporter will certainly keep close track of the growing presence of Silicon Valley giants like Google and Facebook in the region. But we also want to highlight the burgeoning startup culture in New York City, and the ways that tech is influencing traditional mainstay industries like finance, advertising and real estate.

Ideal candidates should be able tell the story of tech in New York through narrative and investigative pieces, as well as through breaking news. Candidates should be able to readily switch between stories about tech as a business to tales of how New Yorkers are using technology in their everyday lives.

Applicants should be fluent in new forms of digital storytelling. Most importantly, we are seeking a driven reporter who works well in a team environment. Collaboration and collegiality are a must.
