New York Times seeks European tech correspondent

If there is a counterbalance to the rise of Silicon Valley, it sits in Europe. Few places have been as active and vocal about crimping the growing clout of American tech behemoths as Europe, where the continent’s regulators and individual countries have clamped down on the companies for antitrust, tax and privacy reasons. Europe has also been a hotbed for cybersecurity issues.

The Times is looking for a dynamic reporter to drive coverage on this vast technology landscape, to break news and stay on the pulse of the latest developments, as well as tackling ambitious features. The job, which is open to internal and external candidates, is based in London or Brussels.

Applicants should be interested and curious about technology and its many tentacles, be enthusiastic and creative about visual and digital storytelling, and have several years of experience reporting on technology. Candidates should be highly motivated, collegial and collaborative, and a self-starter. Applicants should submit a resume, examples of previous work, and a memo outlining their vision for the job.
