We are looking for an experienced technology reporter to join our growing News Business and Technology Team.
The reporter should have knowledge of television production and be able to develop cover breaking and developing news and develop story ideas. Knowledge of field reporting is key. The successful candidate should have a facility with data reporting and news writing.
The candidate should be able to work under pressure, be able to turn stories and thrive in a deadline driven environment. Experience with local national and foreign news is required. The reporter will work as part of team to develop innovative ways to gather information, serving all NBC News digital and television brands. Candidates also must be team players who are comfortable collaborating across platforms.
Job Duties:
- Respond quickly to breaking stories to build out and uncover new angles and information
- Use data to inform and evolve newsgathering and storytelling
- Work as a team player across all NBC News platforms
- Willing to travel at very short notice
- Collaborate with NBC News digital and television units on newsgathering efforts
- Work with journalists across NBC News to integrate drive more content
- Discover, locate and interview newsmakers, eye witnesses and other notable and interesting news subjects
- Participate in special projects, pitch fresh ideas, and assist senior editors, as needed
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Must have at least eight years as a reporter, writer, producer and/or editor at a news organization, or a comparable body of freelance work
• Must have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, political science or English
• Must have a strong news background, with some staff newsroom experience
