From its primary office in Washington and bureaus in New York, Boston, San Francisco and Los Angeles, NLJ reporters and editors break news and offer nuanced analyses of the law and legal profession for a demanding and sophisticated audience.
In addition to working as a tight team within the NLJ, our reporters and editors also work closely with sibling ALM publications such as The American Lawyer, The New York Law Journal and Corporate Counsel on stories of national and international interest.
- Cover federal regulatory and enforcement agencies, including but not limited to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
- Versatile team player who can work quickly on deadline and break news
- Deliver thoughtful analyses aimed at our sophisticated readership
- Pitch in occasionally on breaking stories and special reports not necessarily on the beat
- At least three years’ reporting experience (please note this is not an entry-level position)
- Have a passion for and sophisticated understanding of how corporate and legal interests are impacted by these agencies, and how their work impacts the public
- Special interest in and experience with covering federal regulation and/or enforcement agencies, corporate and business law, and the law
- Understands the players and politics of these agencies
- Strong reporting and writing skills are a must
