Monster.com is looking for an innovative content editor to help shape our coverage on topics that matter to job seekers.

The ideal candidate will have experience producing high-quality, actionable content, both evergreen and off the day’s news, from a journalistic approach. You will help control the voice of Monster, making sure all content aligns with company objectives.

You will guide writers on staff and off, and collaborate with key stakeholders within the company—PR, social media, CRM, product—to improve the content experience for the site user. Most importantly, you will stay on top of the issues and trends relevant to America’s workforce (from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly jobs report to the latest offerings in office cafeterias) and help decide how we translate these topics for Monster’s audiences.

About 50% of this job will involve directing and editing writers in the creation of articles, videos, GIF posts, quizzes, and infographics.  But we’d also like you to write at least once weekly in order build a brand for yourself as a Monster career expert (30%) and manage projects (20%).

Additionally, you’ll have a key role in the bigger picture: As we redefine our content strategy, editorial voice, and UI to maximize audience engagement, traffic, branding, and revenue, you’ll be asked to think  creatively about new ways to engage our audience, both as a whole and key segments. Plus, you’ll also be tasked with thinking about what people and assets inside and outside the company can be leveraged to best achieve our corporate goal—which is to help people “find better.”

Essential Functions:

  • Stay on top of relevant news to ensure full coverage of our core subject areas, and help ideate individual stories and packages that are engaging for job seekers while also driving company KPIs
  • Work with our social and design teams to produce multiplatform content—articles, galleries, quizzes, lists, GIFs posts, infographics and more
  • Work with SEO team and agency to develop new content that increases long-tail organic traffic and improve upon existing content to boost search rankings
  • Work with CRM team to deliver weekly newsletters with high click-through-rates
  • Help identify contributors internally and externally who will boost the brand, and work with existing contributors to create top-shelf quality that is consistently “on brand”
  • Help consider new ways to amplify and distribute content for greater brand awareness, particularly among millennials
  • Write “clicky” headlines for social, CRM and site, and smart metadata for SEO
  • Serve as a brand ambassador through Twitter and other social media, as well as a spokesperson on print and TV
  • Monitor audience behaviors via analytics tools, and respond by optimizing UI and content in cooperation with internal/external teams for increased engagement
  • Serve as a spokesperson on TV and in print on careers topics

Qualifications:

  • Belief in Monster’s mission to inspire people to help improve their lives
  • Degree in journalism, marketing, communication, or relevant work experience
  • 5-7 years’ experience editing multimedia web content, ideally related to careers or with a special focus on how-to articles
  • Experience promoting content on TV or in print
  • Collaborative attitude and experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
  • Fluency with web analytics tools and social media, and experience with HTML, CSS, and content management systems.  Experience with Creative Suite a plus
  • Strong feelings about the Oxford comma
