Marketplace seeks a sharp, clever news junkie who can cut through the din of news and spin from Washington, DC and help our radio and digital audience understand the business of politics and the politics of business.

Experience as a storyteller and a good sense of humor are a must, as is an ability to explain how government succeeds and fails – and why that matters. A robust list of sources and a strong digital sensibility are a plus.

Marketplace aims to inspire audiences with authoritative, distinctive and trusted content. Our portfolio of broadcast and online content explains how people cope with a constantly changing economic environment. An ability to identify the key players and synthesize multiple strands of any story is essential. A Marketplace reporter should be able to write sharp, concise and accurate copy, for radio or Web, on tight deadlines. Scripts and posts should illustrate trending ideas and analyze emerging patterns with smart interviews and innovative structures.

The successful candidate will bring solid contacts and an ability to offer an insightful take on the business news of the day, in sound-rich packages, in live interviews, in long-form articles and in timely blog items. He/she will have mastered pitching original ideas in multiple formats across a variety of platforms. He/she needs to be able to produce content for digital platforms and ideally has a presence in social media.
