“Marketplace” seeks an assistant digital producer

Your Role:

The Assistant Digital Producer will play an important role in maintaining the high standards of Marketplace’s website, always thinking of how we can best serve our digital audiences. We’re looking for someone who is innately curious about raising the economic intelligence of our audience; driven to find new and compelling ways to tell stories on digital platforms;  organized and detail-oriented; willing to experiment; and thrive in a quick paced environment.

Minimum Compensation: The minimum for LA is $22.60. The minimum for NY is $23.51. Exact hourly rate determined by location, experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure and internal equity

Location: Los Angeles, CA or New York

Position Responsibilities:

  • Webify spot scripts into article copy.
  • Pull audio links from Cody and embed into web stories.
  • Select in Getty, adjust in Photoshop as needed and embed photos for articles, write captions in AP style.
  • Do a preliminary name and fact check on radio copy for the web.
  • Curate the homepage, selecting articles for the hero, secondary hero and four-card component, update the highlighted collection list and homepage banner.
  • Keep track of all copy flow.
  • Use SalesForce to format, build and send out the daily newsletter and other newsletters as needed.
  • Follow established workflow and production routines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English or similar field or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of experience in writing, editing and digital production work

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Interest, knowledge and experience in producing news for digital platforms.
  • Excellent language skills, including writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines..
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues in multiple content areas.
  • Ability to maintain productive and positive communication with co-workers.
  • Familiarity with local and national news.
  • Knowledge of basic digital production tools and standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
