Posted by Chris Roush

Market News International, a global financial news agency, seeks a full-time reporter to cover Eurozone monetary policy and macroeconomic news, including public appearances by senior central bankers and other financial officials.

The successful candidate will have:

* Strong individual initiative; ability to work under time pressure; a talent for sleuthing and for cultivation of well-placed sources; and a strong competitive desire to break news relevant to our specialized readership.

* Three or more years’ journalism experience and contacts in key public agencies – particularly central banks. However, we will consider others with the right kind of smarts and determination and an understanding of or desire to learn about the relationship between macroeconomics, monetary policy and financial markets.

* Excellent written English.

* Complete fluency in German is a prerequisite and applicants not fulfilling this requirement will not be considered. Other foreign languages – particularly French, Italian, Spanish and Dutch – would be a big plus.

* Willingness to work irregular hours when needed.

* Ability to edit stories and headlines from colleagues.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic journalist to cover unfolding events in Europe’s single currency area at a critical time in the history of the Eurozone and the global economy. Salary commensurate with experience.

If interested, please send a letter and a copy of your resume to David Barwick, Frankfurt bureau chief (dbarwick@mni-news.com), and to Martin Baccardax, Managing Editor for continental Europe (mbaccardax@mni-news.com).
