Job Qualifications: Candidates should have experience managing a team of reporters and a track record of handling breaking news and assigning strong enterprise and investigations. They should understand the ways in which technology is affecting every individual and every industry. They must also be able to coax reporters to get the details and description that make stories convincing to insiders, and explain complicated concepts to a general reader. The tech editor should be knowledgeable about the people making news and about topics as varied as artificial intelligence, Facebook privacy policies, ride hailing, Silicon Valley bro culture and Bird scooters– with a special emphasis on L.A.’s unique tech scene, from startups to Snap.
