Lookout Local seeks environment correspondent

Lookout Local is looking for a curious, versatile reporter to cover environmental and climate issues, in the story-rich Monterey Bay area. The correspondent will work closely with both CALMatters and Inside Climate News to explore and analyze issues that have not seen public light.

As a reporter, you will be:

  • Reporting and writing and getting to the heart of stories with thorough wide-sourcing and reporting
  • Connecting the dots for readers in your writing
  • Engaging deeply with readers

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to write about a variety of subjects within their beat and must have a collaborative nature
  • Monitor partner news content within their assigned subject areas and suggest stories for posting
  • Flexibility in terms of schedule
  • Be “on call” on a rotating weekend schedule in the event of breaking news
  • Experience covering at least one of Lookout’s key topical areas with rock-solid journalism judgment, intuition and taste
  • Comfortable learning new technology and experience working in content management systems
