Lee Enterprises’ National Newsroom, which provides national news, lifestyles and sports content for the company’s news organizations across the country, is seeking a motivated news producer with experience in both print and digital journalism. Candidates must have excellent news judgment, strong editing and technical skills and an ability to work independently and quickly on deadline.
This is a full-time remote position, though it is possible to work in one of our company’s hub newsrooms if preferred. Night and weekend hours are required.
News producers are responsible for the production of Nation/World print sections, as well as choosing and managing national and international content on Lee websites. They handle the syndication of both print and digital wire content for our partner newsrooms.
The National Newsroom team is a collaborative group of experienced journalists that takes pride in crafting important content and helping Lee newsrooms deliver high-quality products to their audiences. We make impactful decisions about how to cover the biggest news of the day and play a key role in the success of our news organizations.
Daily tasks include choosing stories from a budget of content from wire sources, editing stories for length and accuracy, writing headlines and selecting photographs for use with stories both online and in print and proofing pages. Experience working in a newsroom content management system and packaging stories for presentation online is preferred.

Qualifications:
- Candidates must have excellent news judgment, strong editing and technical skills and an ability to work independently and quickly on deadline
- The news producer must have a zeal for news and a strong command of the English language, grammar and AP Style guidelines
- Familiarity with daily newspaper production cycles is a plus.
Pay: $20 -$23 per hour
