You stay a step ahead of developments in Seattle’s evolving economy to tell the story of how our region is changing.

You spot and report on labor trends, from people leaving the workforce to jobs in high demand. You cover unions and workers’ rights, along with efforts to unionize at big players like Amazon and Starbucks. You tell the stories of how labor shortages are reconfiguring industries. You look for stories about employees in search of work that better aligns with their values or reflects a better work-life balance, and the policies employers enact toward that. You dig into efforts to improve equity in the workplace, exploring solutions and setbacks.

You report on how companies and employees are faring in industries hardest hit by the pandemic. You tell stories about their struggles and how some evolve. You look for emerging trends and signs of resilience.

You turn around enterprise and breaking news stories for both broadcast and digital. You work closely with the growth and development reporter and collaborate with other members of the content team to report on various platforms. You excel at cultivating sources.
