Investment News seeks social media and engagement editor

Investment News is seeking a social media & engagement editor to lead our newsroom’s day-to-day efforts with social media and video content.

The person in this role will be responsible for managing our official accounts on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and for developing highly-focused strategies that will ensure that our digital content reaches and engages our core audience of financial advisers.

The social media & engagement editor will be responsible for helping lead our coverage of news affecting the business of financial advice, working directly with editors and reporters to strategically increase site traffic and engagement.

Other responsibilities tracking newsroom analytics, creating actionable insights and developing relationships with outside media partners on behalf of the newsroom.

Specific Duties

  • Social media: Oversee InvestmentNews’ presence on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. This entails posting from each brand account across each network, while also monitoring trends and topics of interest among InvestmentNews’ social followers and discussing them with reporters and editors when appropriate. Also handles creation of sponsored social campaigns, and development of social distribution strategies for InvestmentNews’ lists and features.
  • Analytics: Updating daily, monthly and quarterly web traffic reports with the performance of each published story on Investmentnews.com. Work closely with editors to analyze site performance, offer insights on how InvestmentNews’ coverage is being received by its digital audience, and create actionable distribution strategies to increase engagement.
  • Video:  Liaising directly with InvestmentNews’ Director of Multimedia to write video headlines and ensure that all videos (both editorial and custom) are being distributed and promoted.
  • Quality control/user assistance: Working extensively in the CMS to troubleshoot issues for other users and provide quality control for our daily news content—fixing HTML errors, ensuring that stories are actually published and have been given the proper taxonomy, adding related in-text links or other valuable related content.
  • Transition from print to web: Responsible for transitioning print-first stories (special reports, cover stories, etc.) to website by building them in the CMS.
