Personal Finance Insider (PFI) produces service journalism about money. We help our readers choose the right bank accounts, save more for retirement, pay off their student loans, buy their first homes, and more. We value creativity, accountability, and diversity of ideas and opinions.
The associate editor will oversee PFI’s freelance coverage, working with a group of over 100 writers to produce essays, opinion/analysis pieces, and reported features. The associate editor will be responsible for soliciting pitches and making assignments on a regular basis, and editing and publishing all freelance stories. The associate editor will work closely with PFI’s senior editor to ensure coverage is inclusive and intersectional, and that our pool of writers reflects the diversity of our readership.
The ideal candidate will be organized, full of ideas, and enthusiastic about working with freelancers. The ideal candidate will also have some experience editing others. This person is flexible and able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced newsroom. They are a team player who is excited about working in an inclusive environment and getting better every day.
