Insider seeks an AME in San Francisco

Insider Inc. is hiring an assistant managing editor to help run the San Francisco newsroom.

At Insider Inc. our motto is “get better every day.” An AME is a crucial person in our newsroom who helps achieve this goal.

An AME is someone who is excited to bring new talent into the newsroom and help reporters grow and learn in their careers.

We’re looking for someone who is an excellent communicator, is organized, and has endless enthusiasm for digital journalism.

Some responsibilities will include:

  • Posting jobs and screening fellowship applications in SF
  • On-boarding new SF hires and helping familiarize them with Insider Inc.
  • Setting up skill-building seminars and series across the SF newsroom
  • Being the eyes and ears of the SF office, tasked with making Insider Inc. a great place to work.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelors degree in a related field (journalism degree is not required but is a plus)
  • Impeccable communication skills
  • At least a year of professional experience

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
