Inside Higher Ed, the leading source for the latest news, analysis, and services for the world of higher education, seeks a Technology and Innovation Reporter to explore how tech advances are reshaping the higher ed landscape. This exciting role will report on an industry adapting to rapid changes such as online learning, changing learner expectations, and the rise of artificial intelligence.
The reporter will cover various issues, focusing on how these forces alter the student experience, how colleges operate, and the cultural and practical implications. Coverage topics include the continuing spread of online (and blended) education, privacy, and security, experiments to help students navigate college, and new digital credentials.
Candidates should have at least three years of full-time professional reporting experience at a news organization; a background covering technology and higher education is a plus. The ideal candidate is creative, ambitious, tech-savvy, and familiar with the issues and trends of technology and higher ed.
The role’s preferred location is the Washington, D.C., area with a hybrid office/remote schedule. However, the position has the potential to be largely remote for the right candidate.
Inside Higher Ed engages in authoritative journalism that provides a mix of news, enterprise, and analysis. Our audience depends on us to help them understand what’s happening and why it matters (or should). Our reporters mix beat reporting, analysis, and creative storytelling approaches; candidates should be able to dig deep and juggle multiple articles at once.
