Houston Public Media is looking for our next midday radio news anchor who will help continue our commitment to daily, local newscasts. Our ideal candidate will have solid news judgment, experience doing live newscasts in a medium or large market, be a motivated self-starter who knows how to stack a local radio newscast and be able to react quickly to breaking news and other developing stories.
Concise, clear writing is a must, with the ability to tell a story in just a few seconds. A conversational, natural delivery is also preferred.
Our anchor will work with reporters on live-shots and story coordination. Familiarity with Adobe Audition and broadcast studio equipment is also required. Our midday anchor should also be able to produce daily newscast stories as-needed for other day parts and support our other anchors. If you don’t meet all these requirements but are a quick learner with previous on-air experience in a professional news environment, let’s talk.
