The Hartford Business Journal, an award winning business media organization, is looking for a digital reporter who has journalism, Internet and social media chops. The digital reporter will lead HBJ’s online news efforts and products including CT Morning Blend and HBJ Today.
Primary responsibilities will be writing, editing, and posting breaking news to the web (HartfordBusiness.com) and sending out our two daily e-newsletters.
- CT Morning Blend is a news aggregation newsletter that publishes at 7:30 a.m. Responsibilities include finding the top business news stories from around the state and aggregating them into a morning newsletter. This position requires you to work early mornings.
- HBJ Today is generated using staff content. The digital reporter writes most of the content (usually 7-8 story briefs a day) and then sends the email at noon.
The position will also require writing occasional news stories for print. Ability to meet tight, daily deadlines is a must.
We’re looking for journalists with a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience. A business journalism background is a plus. Candidate must be an independent go-getter with a strong news sense and ability to write clearly and concisely.
