WFMZ-TV in Allentown seeks a business reporter

WFMZ-TV is seeking a dynamic Business Reporter with a passion for reporting and an ability to break down complex economic, financial, and business news for a diverse audience. The ideal candidate will bring business stories to life through compelling narratives and have a first-on mentality, delivering timely and accurate coverage impacting the Lehigh Valley. This role involves writing for multiple platforms, including digital and broadcast.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, write, and publish daily reports on current business trends, industry news, and financial topics
  • Analyze economic data and industry developments to provide context and insights
  • Conduct interviews with industry experts, business leaders, and influencers
  • Attend and report on business events, press conferences, and conferences
  • Adapt stories for various formats, including video segments, online articles, and broadcast news pieces
  • Collaborate with editorial teams to develop story ideas and special reports
  • Engage with audiences through social media to share insights and gather story leads

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, or a related field
  • Strong writing, research, and analytical skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly
  • Familiarity with economic and financial concepts, with prior experience covering business news a plus
  • Proficiency in digital content tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media platform
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, resourcefulness, and an independent mindset
