Insider seeks an insurance reporter

The Personal Finance Insider team offers helpful money advice, making recommendations for the best products and services for our readers.

Our insurance coverage aims to demystify the complexities of various policy types and help readers find the best options for them, while stressing the importance of financial responsibility and planning for the future.

The insurance reporter will oversee PFI’s insurance coverage, spanning reviews, guides, and reference/how-to articles, working closely with the PFI Reviews senior editor.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with insurance and personal finance, and passionate about helping readers make the best decisions with their money. This person will be comfortable in a fast-paced newsroom. They are a team player who is excited about working in an inclusive environment and getting better every day.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Write insurance articles, including reviews, guides, and reference articles spanning car, life, homeowners, and renters insurance
  • Update and maintain our evergreen guides to the best insurance companies and the best insurance options by state
  • Contribute ideas that strengthen our approach to financial product reviews, guides, and comparisons
  • Stay on top of the insurance beat and find new angles to cover insurance that resonate with our readership
  • Learn and use the best practices for search optimization to ensure that those who need help can easily find it

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have proven experience or interest in covering insurance, personal finance, or a related topic
  • Be familiar with or interested in the different types of insurance (from auto to life to health)
  • Demonstrate superb attention to detail
  • Be comfortable multitasking and working in a fast-paced environment

The ideal candidate may also:

  • Have experience with SEO and content management tools
  • Have editing experience
