Business Insider seeks a VC, startups and tech senior editor in London

Business Insider is hiring a Senior Editor to lead the VC, Startups and Tech team in the UK.

The Role & Team:

Business Insider is looking for a Senior Editor to lead its team and coverage within the fast-paced world of tech startups and the investors who back them. Our award-winning startups and venture capital team closely covers companies, investors, and founders that are changing the world while holding them accountable. The ideal candidate will be very immersed in the industry and boasts a strong contact book to match.

The candidate will also embrace covering startups and venture capital with passion, and have a desire to develop and grow their intimate knowledge of the industry. They will be versatile enough to quickly identify emerging stories and scoops across industries, including AI, fintech, health tech, and climate tech. They will also be able to edit ambitious features and impactful investigations. They are a team player who is excited about working in an inclusive environment and dedicated to getting better every day.

As the VC, Startups & Tech Senior Editor you can expect to be commissioning and editing pieces such as:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Run the VC and startups team focusing on coverage in Europe
  • Have solid knowledge of the VC market in Europe and the be able to assist reporters with scoops and investigations
  • Be involved in helping shape the biggest tech stories for our readers
  • Understanding of the big tech companies such Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Tesla as well as companies like Open AI etc
  • Be comfortable commissioning analysis, step back pieces on big tech companies/big names such as Elon Musk, Sam Altman

The ideal candidate has:

  • Extensive experience editing within the tech, VC and startups space
  • Experience of editing and working on scoops
  • Experience managing a team of reporters
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching a team
  • An impressive contacts book within the VC/Startups industry
  • A self-starter attitude and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced global team
  • A curiosity about, if not interest in, the technology, startups and venture capital industry
  • A collaborative attitude we have an agile team of editors who on occasion jump into to help other desk editors.
