Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets, from daily coverage through to in-depth features. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It’s what keeps us inventing and re-inventing, all the time.
We are looking for an experienced reporter to cover the Spanish government, the central bank and the wider economy. The successful candidate will be well-connected and will work both independently and as part of our European network to write everything from quick-breaking stories and scoops to memorable features.
You’ll be able to break news on decision-making inside Moncloa and the broader government, as well as on the new Bank of Spain governor, and you’ll chronicle the performance of an economy that has been consistently outperforming others in Europe. Your access and knowledge will also contribute to coverage beyond Spain — especially in relation to the EU institutions in Brussels and the ECB.
Your understanding of policy detail will allow you to process complex content quickly and hone in on the news that matters most to Bloomberg clients. You are able to see the bigger picture, to explain the Spanish story to readers around the world. You have the stamina to cover political meetings that can occasionally run through the night and you’ll thrive on being at the center of the day’s events.
You will also contribute to our various platforms including radio, television, online videos and newsletters.
We’ll trust you to:
- Break news and write in-depth stories that connect Spanish developments to European trends
- Cultivate and maintain a wide network of sources across Spanish politics, central banking and economics
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the newsroom
- Produce high-quality content across all of Bloomberg’s platforms
You’ll need to have:
- Fluent English and Spanish. Additional languages are welcome
- A strong grasp of the Spanish government, central bank and economy and a willingness to go deeper
- A minimum of 5 years experience in political, economic or financial journalism
- A track record of breaking news and meeting tight deadlines
- An aptitude for interpreting economic data
- Ideas for how to complement your stories with visual, audio and graphic elements
