Barron’s is seeking an experienced senior writer to cover a core beat for its newsroom — investing.

You Will:

  • Cover the gamut—including equities, fixed income, ETFs, mutual funds, and alternatives.
  • Write timely, ahead-of-the-curve analysis of market trends, and should be able to move quickly when big news ripples across an industry, explaining how these events might impact investors.
  • Produce authoritative and deeply reported enterprise pieces that provide practical advice on where to invest long-term.
  • Have a solid understanding of Wall Street: how to cut through sell-side research, interview analysts, and develop an original thesis on a company, sector or broad investing theme.
  • The role involves coverage of fixed income, from Treasuries to junk bonds, including profiles of fund managers and their strategies. This person will also be able to produce stories about alternatives like private equity or hedge funds, whether as profiles or strategies, and can weigh in authoritatively on topics like the 60/40 portfolio, index funds, dividend investing, geopolitical events or macro trends.

You Have:

  • 7-10 years of experience as a writer and a strong understanding of finance and economics
  • Ability to draw on a wide range of sources among academics, economists, money managers, financial advisors, and other experts to develop scoops, break news, and bring out-of-the box thinking to these important issues.
  • Strong writing skills are a must
  • Barron’s highly values collaboration, so a team-oriented approach is required
