Arizent’s Financial Planning seeks a reporter

Financial Planning, Arizent’s award-winning wealth management publication, is seeking a high-impact Business Reporter. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert with a deep understanding of the wealth management ecosystem, including the complexities of tax and estate planning, retirement strategies, and evolving advisory business models.

You are as comfortable breaking high-stakes news as you are crafting deep-dive analytical features on the trends shaping the future of financial advice. Beyond the written word, you will serve as a key brand ambassador, representing Financial Planning through live event moderation, video commentary, and strategic industry engagement.

Core Responsibilities

· Domain Expertise: Develop and execute ongoing beat coverage focused on the business of wealth management and financial advice.

· Source Development: Proactively cultivate a deep network of industry sources to generate original enterprise story ideas and exclusive insights.

· Newsroom Agility: Report and break news on tight daily deadlines, maintaining a consistent output of at least one news article per day.

· Long-Form Excellence: Research and produce two significant enterprise features per month that provide deep-dive analysis on industry-shaping trends.

· Collaboration: Work closely with editors and cross-functional colleagues to ensure cohesive coverage across multiple wealth management verticals.

· Industry Presence: Attend and cover major industry conferences as the strategic “eyes and ears” of the publication.

Reporters at Financial Planning engage with our audience across multiple platforms and formats:

· Social Strategy: Crafting daily social media posts to drive engagement and brand authority.

· Digital Media: Participating in podcasts, web seminars, and on-camera video interviews.

· Live Events: Moderating panels and presenting insights at both live and virtual events hosted by Financial Planning and other Arizent brands.

· Brand Ambassadorship: Representing the publication in external media appearances and public industry forums.

Job Requirements

Competitive candidates will have the following attributes:

  • A passion for business reporting, ideally with demonstrated experience covering wealth management, personal finance or Wall Street, as well as technology
  • 3-8 years of experience in reporting, preferably in a breaking news environment
  • Ability to write with clarity, insight, and depth in a timely manner
  • A track record of working well under tight deadlines
  • A sharp eye for what makes a compelling news and feature story
  • A strong understanding of how to generate scoops
  • Proficiency in all the tools of a digital newsroom (CMS, audio and video recording and editing, digital photography and editing, data analysis)
  • Experience and confidence participating in digital media and other public forums, and moderating panels at conferences
  • A degree in journalism or a related field is a plus.
