Adweek seeks an influencer marketing reporter

ADWEEK is looking for an ambitious, intrepid, and curious reporter to cover the burgeoning world of influencer marketing and the creator economy.

The Influencer Marketing reporter will chase and break scoops, source up with experts, jump on news, and help set ADWEEK’s editorial agenda for covering the influencer marketing space. ADWEEK is seeking a quick study who is eager to learn from an experienced team of reporters and editors. This role will cover the people, technologies, and platforms that are shaping influencer marketing, writing about companies like TikTok and Instagram, creators, and brands.

This role will report to the Deputy Editor of Retail Media and Commerce and collaborate closely with the rest of ADWEEK’s editorial team. This is a hybrid role and will be based in ADWEEK’s NYC office three (3) days a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Author 5 bylined articles per week on influencer marketing news and trends.
  • Experiment with different story formats like lists, features, and data-driven pieces.
  • Build and regularly check in with a network of sources for inside scoops and news.
  • Manage a constant flow of breaking news hits and longer, multisource trend features.
  • Contribute to ADWEEK’s lists and franchises about the creator economy.
  • Appear on ADWEEK’s podcasts and video projects.
  • Moderate sessions at ADWEEK panels or events.

Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of business journalism experience or other relevant journalism experience.
  • Hunger to break news and tell agenda-setting stories about the influencer marketing industry.
  • Competitive go-getter eager to establish a career with and a platform on the ad industry’s leading publication.
  • Highly curious individual who wants to dig below the surface to tell unique stories.
  • Quick study, with a willingness to dive into subject matters that they do not yet understand.
  • Proven ability to write clearly and concisely on deadline, while contributing constructively to team projects.
  • Ability to cultivate a deep network of sources within the influencer ecosystem.
  • Working knowledge of influencer marketing is a major plus.
