Fortune.com seeks associate editor

The associate editor for Fortune.com will be part of a team assisting the contributor editor with the development of a network of high-profile guest columnists.

This is a key role for a digital content enthusiast who wants to shape and execute on a content strategy for a brand with massive reach.

You will:

  • Directly oversee a network of contributors, tracking aggressive growth goals while handling the day-to-day editing and management of columnists.
  • Build strong relationships with columnists and help them shape and craft timely commentary.
  • Collaborate with Fortune’s vertical editors, conference chairs, newsletter editors, video teams and others to weave content throughout various platforms of Fortune.com

You are:

  • Proven: You have two to three years of experience working in an online editorial environment and strong project management experience.
  • Collaborative: You’re a team player and it shows. You’re happiest when you’re contributing to a project. You’re quick to notice the details you manage and how they contribute to the greater whole.
  • Entrepreneurial: You come armed with a clear perspective on how to build a multifaceted content strategy, organize people around a central idea, and tactically experiment with emerging platforms.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
