Financial News seeks an associate editor in London

Financial News is on the hunt for an associate editor to work across our digital offering to make sure readers are as engaged as possible with our award winning journalism and to take our reporting to the next level.

We’re looking for high-level copy editing skills and a nose for the biggest stories in the City. The associate editor will drive Financial News’ growth by making sure the highest quality journalism hits home with our readers. From newsletters and social media, to mobile notifications and SEO, they will have a strong understanding of what drives engagement across a leading financial services publication.

The successful candidate will have a keen eye on how content is presented, from infographics and images to headlines and market positioning, and be able to work with our team of journalists to stay one step ahead of our competition.

The candidate:

A strong candidate for this role would be a journalist with a proven aptitude for digital content, or someone with experience in SEO/digital marketing.

  • Previous journalism or content experience required
  • Minimum two years experience working in journalism or similar environment
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing content analytics platforms to inform decisions around programming content
  • Familiarity with SEO and traffic analysis

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
